D-Backs wall mural--installed and printed by DD&F
Detail Design and Fabrication, Inc. ( DD&F ) is proud to be the Official Sign and Graphic Partner for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2007-2009. During the past 5 years we have built an amazing relationship that continues to develop and grow. They have given us an amazing opportunity to show our various talents all throughout the stadium. We are so honored to be apart of enhancing their brand and fan experience over the last several years. We will forever be D-Back fans! Now let’s Play Ball!

When the Diamondbacks made the decision to overhaul their look in 2007 you could almost hear a collective sigh of relief among fans – and maybe even a few yelps of downright celebration! The teal, copper, black and purple that had been around for almost a decade would be shed in favor of “Sedona Red,” “Sonoran Sand,” and black.
While embraced by fans, at Chase Field the new color scheme would inevitably prove to be a makeover of massive proportions. This was a daunting task to say the least: more than 49,000 seats (which means 49,000 cup holder decals needing to be replaced), countless logos to switch out, dozens of concession and merchandising kiosks and restrooms to rebrand.
Naturally, it was vital that everything be ready in time for that first pitch of the season which translated into a serious hustle to meet the team’s aggressive deadlines. Yet, DD&F stepped up to the plate, determined to make this job a home run. (Consequently, that spring the DD&F team may have gotten into better shape than the D-backs themselves!)
The DD&F team also fabricated and installed a fresh look for much of the signage around the ballpark, adding three-dimensional aspects, or updateable components where it made sense. From updated concession signage to making ticket sales information visible, DD&F went above and beyond to produce an inspired result on time and on budget.
Incorporating aspects of the D-backs new advertising campaign, which feature black and white photographs of parents and children enjoying the unparalleled pastime of baseball, DD&F demonstrated skill in large-format printing and installation. Morphing the ads into full wall murals of custom-printed adhesive vinyl, the DD&F team produced and installed different campaign vignettes on the suite level, inside elevator atriums, above drinking fountains, and throughout each concourse.
High above right field, DD&F helped to design and install the bold 12 by 38-foot Diamond Club sign, clearly identifying the VIP club area – especially when it lights up at night during the games. To help secure club sponsor Miller Brewing Company, DD&F designed, fabricated and installed an incredible, three-dimensional, 35-foot high Miller beer bottle constructed with mild steel and flexible LED lighting with curved illuminated labels.
In addition to the countless tactical particulars required to implement a fully-branded makeover of a stadium from head to toe, DD&F demonstrated unparalleled professionalism. Encouraging the team to take the opportunity to examine new options for sponsorship, DD&F made a variety of recommendations that quite literally paid off for the team by attracting a variety of new sponsors.
Despite this impressive array of work at Chase Field, there is one contribution DD&F has made to the ballpark that is destined to be the most beloved: The Sandlot. DD&F can proudly take credit for working from the conceptual layout, to design and build-out of a dynamic interactive play area for young fans, including Future’s Field. Complete with baseball diamond and windows in its outfield that open and close using computer automation, this miniature version of Chase Field gives aspiring ball players a chance to see what it feels like to hit one out of the park themselves.
DD&F implemented environmental graphics, a distinct entry statement and custom picket fence border, to infuse the area with a sense of continuity and kid-friendly atmosphere. DD&F also created valuable sponsorship opportunities throughout The Sandlot, which features a full playground and toddler play area and will be joined by a variety of other kid-friendly attractions such as a stage for D-backs mascot, Baxter the Bobcat.
Located on the third level, overlooking left field, The Sandlot was developed for partner St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. Through DD&F efforts, the play area was ready in time for its 2008 unveiling.
Despite the mind-boggling array of details that demanded attention, DD&F undeniably proved themselves to be MVP’s at Chase Field. Since they started working with the D-backs in 2003, DD&F has repeatedly proven a versatile, reliable and efficient partner, with a sharp eye for innovative, valuable and cost-effective solutions. What’s more, the massive ballpark makeover afforded DD&F the opportunity to show just what they’re capable of: crafting a truly dynamic
custom environment for the D-backs and fans alike. Now, let’s play ball!
